AUTO CARRIER – TERMS & CONDITIONS (2009)
1. Personal belongings are not permitted in vehicle.
2. Carrier is not responsible for mechanical defects. Boosting and/or towing of vehicle will be at additional cost.
3. Carrier is not responsible for structural damage as a result of metal fatigue or broken factory latch-down areas. Further, the carrier is not responsible for subsequent body damage resulting from the above.
4. Shipper’s vehicle is insured for its Red Book value as determined by our insurance company. Antique or special interest vehicles must have a declared value determined before shipping and such value must be supported by an appraisal prepared by a bona fide appraisal facility.
5. All claims must be supported by the carrier’s auto condition report, along with two estimates for repair, and must be submitted within five (5) days of delivery. Transportation costs for the vehicle must be paid prior to settling of any claims. Damage which is being claimed must be noted on the destination area of our condition report before any claim is processed. Carrier is not responsible for damage caused by vandalism.
6. Carrier is not responsible for damages done to after-market ground effects installed on the vehicle.
7. Carrier is not responsible for undercarriage, or exhaust system damage unless proof provided that the specific area was in contact with our trailer during transit. Damage due to metal fatigue or rust does not constitute a claim.
8. Door to door pickup and delivery service is included in our rates, however, due to city by-laws or confined spaces we cannot access your residence at all times. In this case, our driver will get as close as possible to you and from there, you are responsible to move your vehicle to or from your residence.
9. Unless credit has been arranged and approved, all shipments must be Prepaid or Collect with a certified check or money order.
10. Carrier is not responsible for minor chips and scratches or glass breakage resulting from common road hazards, such as flying stones, sand or ice, or caused by any natural incident that is uncontrollable by the carrier or our drivers. Enclosed auto service is provided subject to availability of equipment.
11. All orders will be confirmed by our office, prior to the actual pickup service. Any order that has been cancelled after the truck is dispatched to load may be subject to a cancellation fee or “Dry Run Charge”. This charge will apply only if East Can Transport, or its subcontractor, is unable to fill the space with another order from within the general area of the original order.
